Stripped Down
I created Stripped Down as an exploration of vulnerability intertwined with strength, to emphasize the natural and classical beauty of the human body. Inspired by the elegance of classical sculptures and paintings, this collection allows the body to speak for itself without distraction. It was important for me to represent each subject through the female gaze, focusing on seeing the subject as having agency over their own body. There is nothing submissive or meek about the models in these photos; they all have a sense of power and confidence, even in their states of vulnerability. Each frame captures a quiet, intimate moment, where confidence and fragility coexist in delicate harmony.
It was important for me to represent myself and my loved ones through this project, to empower and uplift each other through connection by stripping back expectations and insecurities. By finding classical beauty through simplicity, it becomes easier to see ourselves as more powerful and assured. By taking away any aspect of sensuality or provocativeness, there is more space to explore the aesthetic beauty of the simple things - the beauty in shadows, musculature, the way that hair naturally falls, and the curves of the body. Stripped Down celebrates the quiet moments of strength, the soft, intricate gestures that tell the story of a body that refuses to be silenced or diminished.
